RADIOCOMMUNICATIONS AGENCY
The Radiocommunications Agency was an executive agency of the DTI responsible for the allocation, maintenance and supervision of the UK radio spectrum. Now part of Ofcom.

RADSL - Rate Adaptive DSL
A DSL (digital subscriber line) technology which adapts its data speed to the wire length and quality. The technology effectively increases the reach of DSL services from the local exchange beyong the limitations of ADSL but with a corresponding reduction in speed.
RAS - Remote Access Service
Connecting to a network from a remote location.
RESELLER
Resellers are operators that purchase call-time from other companies, including ISVR operators, and offer cheap international calls. They are not licensed by Oftel.

RING BACK
A user calling an engaged number can request that the call is returned when the number is free. Also known as call return. (Available on all digital exchanges.)

ROAMING AGREEMENT

ROUTER
A hardware/software device that acts like a telephone exchange, recognising the addresses of packets of data and routing them over a permanently connected network towards their destination.
